Israel Confiscates Over 70,000 Square Meters of West Bank

(MENAFN) Israel has confiscated more than 70,000 square meters of land in the Nablus governorate, located in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, a report has stated.

The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission announced on Sunday that the Israeli military seized 70 dunams and 147 square meters (with one dunam equivalent to 1,000 square meters) of land in the Nablus area under “a military and security seizure order” that was issued for multiple villages in Nablus.

This action is intended to create a buffer zone surrounding the Eli settlement situated in the region, the commission explained.

The report indicated that Israeli officials published the order after the brief objection period, which lasts only one week, had ended.

Since the beginning of 2025, Israel has issued a total of 53 military seizure orders to extend its control over the occupied West Bank, according to the commission.

The Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission further noted that Israel has constructed no fewer than 710 settlements and military outposts in the occupied West Bank since 1967, averaging roughly one settlement every 8 square kilometers.

The international community, including the UN, considers these Israeli settlements unlawful under international law.

The UN has consistently cautioned that ongoing settlement growth jeopardizes the feasibility of a two-state solution, a framework widely regarded as essential to resolving the long-standing Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

In an advisory opinion issued last July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories unlawful and called for the removal of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
