Trump Pays Tribute to Charlie Kirk
Kirk, who co-established the conservative advocacy group Turning Point USA at the age of 18, was fatally shot by a sniper on September 10 while addressing students at a university in Utah.
During the service held in Glendale, Arizona, Trump said the nation had lost “one of the brightest lights of our times.”
He emphasized that Kirk was “heinously murdered by a radicalized, cold-blooded monster for speaking the truth that was in his heart... He was violently killed because he spoke for freedom and justice, for God, country, for reason, and for common sense.”
Trump added, “He is a martyr for American freedom. None of us will ever forget Charlie Kirk, and neither will history.”
Kirk rose to national recognition by traveling to college campuses and engaging in debates with students.
His confrontations with liberal adversaries often went viral on social media.
He met with Trump multiple times and was credited with inspiring young conservative voters, significantly contributing to Trump’s re-election victory in 2024.
A Utah local, Tyler Robinson, has been indicted for Kirk’s killing. Prosecutors said Robinson held progressive and pro-LGBTQ beliefs and admitted to the act in text messages to his transgender partner.
